Off to Adelaide tomorrow for the Writing Across Cultures: Fiction, History, Memory conference. It’s been two years since I was there for the Sonics/Synergies conference, where first I met Pippa, Jean and Katy. (Katy, I accosted you in a corridor briefly about Spike, so you might not remember me. But then a week later Tommy DeFrantz told me funny stories about you babysitting David and Rhonda in Melbourne.) Being in Adelaide first planted the seeds of a desire to do something else with my brain other than being subsumed in Working for The Man, so for that I salute thee.

Sonics was such a great conference, keeps, erm, resonating for me. Oh, and I ran into Tommy at MIT where he danced some of his paper – you have to love that man. Please keep us posted about Writing Across Cultures, and I will try to share some of the Cosmo conference in return:
