That “documentary” is probably the most biased attempt at journalism. They did not even try to include any people from the opposing viewpoint to interview. THere is too much to write about this film and I think I’ll get sick if I try.
Remember 9-11
Terrorism in Israel = Terrorism in America
If we don’t stop it there it will come here.

America’s corporate controled media is probably the most biased atempt at journalism i’ve seen, but hey that’s just me. Want the other side? just watch CNN for the easy to swallow view points you’ve grown to really on.
Oppression breeds violence. Plain and simple. They is no dening this it is a law of nature.
You can never stop terrorism by waging war or in for this reason. Further oppression or assasination’s will only result in the increased hatred towards the West and ultumatly more support for islamic extremist groups. The only peace is equality. Human right’s must apply to every one regardless of religion or race. If only basic human right’s were applied to ALL citizens of Isreal there would be no support for such extremist organizations.
I really hope this film is released soon it was supposed to come out summer 2002. If anyone knows anything about a release date plz post.

I haven’t seen the film yet but I do recognize a lot of the names of those being interviewed. I study international relations. That being said. I guess that you could call this film biased if you consider testimony from only the world’s biggest experts on the issue a bias.
The film cannot be said to have an Arab bias because there are a surprizing number of Israeli voices of reason included in the film. To assume that Israelis must be in favor of military oppression of Palestinians and that Palestinians must be in favor of terrorism is to make a gross oversimplification of the issue.
This kind of political polarization leads to simplistic reasoning where drones of mindless fools can be mobilized under meaningless rally calls such as,
“Remember 9-11
Terrorism in Israel = Terrorism in America
If we don’t stop it there it will come here.”
I can’t wait to see this film. I hope that there are still enough Americans out there that use their heads for this film to have an effect. Sometimes I really doubt it thought.

To answer the original question: “Why wasn’t this kind of documentary about the occupation of Palestine made years ago?” Short answer: It was, the Tom Hays documentary “The People And The Land” which came out 1997. Though a smaller production than Occupation 101 it still offers a very illuminating view of the hardships the Palestinians have suffered under the occupation, a view that has been completely ignored by mainstream media. A review of the documentary and a link to where the video can be purchased can be found the following URL.

The America media is not biased, just censored by the government. If you want to see what really happens in the world, get a C-Band satellite and watch the foreign news channels. You’ll have a different view of the whole Israel-Palestine conflict when you see live footage of journalists being shot at by Isreali military, not to mention the other video footage that makes liars out of the Israeli government.

This production has been postponed several times since it was originally announced. The “private screening” process that is mentioned on their web site has been going on for some time now. Is this because of recent developments in the region or has something happened to the production? I’m sure after all this effort they still plan on releasing it eventually but I wish they would at least update their site to keep those interested informed.

The producers decided to delay the release of the film due to recent events in the region. This is all I heard, and the way things are going these days…this doc might come out in a couple years or so. In the meantime, I guess we have to watch the news…

Slightly off topic but has anyone seen “The Passion of the Christ” yet? I’m not a religious man myself but all the press it has generated intrigues me. I’ve heard that many are concerned about the way it portrays the Jews. What I’m wondering is what effect, if any, will this have on the rather bazaar relationship the Christian Right has with the Zionists? I’ve seen programs (60 Minuets and the like) about the support the Isrealis get from the Christian right. It seems the Christians believe that the Jews are safeguarding Jerusalum until Jesus returns at which point the Jews will either convert to Christianity or be destroyed. Or something to that effect. Anyway, the Jews obviously think this proficey is ridiculous but welcome the support because any support, regardless of the reason, will help them in the short run. Meanwhile the Palestinians are caught in the middle. All made worse by the weekly terrorist attacks. OK, now I’m rambling so let me get back to my point: Are people really that easily swayed by what they see in the movies? If so, am I the only one that thinks that is more troubling than any negative message this movie allegedly has?

Any comment on the Bush April 14, 2004 endorsement of Israel’s claim to parts of the west bank? Calling it “unrealistic” to return to the pre ’67 war boundries. Isn’t this a major change (for the worse) in US policy? Not to mention a major setback to the peace process.
This might prove to be yet another reason to delay the release of Occupation 101 because of “recent events”.
