I'd been in a convent school for 13 years. (during some crisis or other, maybe something to do with nun support for the massacres of the left in indonesia, i remember mother xaveria telling us- i was maybe 6- that if the communists came to australia the FIRST thing they'd do would be to KILL ALL THE NUNS. and THEN, the LITTLE GIRLS. that was 1968 or 9, & the last thing I'd heard about communism)</p> <p>in my first or so week at Monash, i went to a talk by sam goldbloom about the recent soviet invasion of afghanistan, though i couldn't tell you AT ALL what his perspective was. this is because the woman sitting next to me hopped up on her chair and started jumping up and down with her fist in the air shouting, just as you say, HAIL RED ARMY!
